Facility Information
Aquatics Facilities
Penn State's McCoy Natatorium aquatics facilities include:
- a six-lane 25-meter instructional pool. This is a shallow (3 1/2 - 5 ft) warm-water (80 °F) pool primarily for instruction, recreation, therapy, and lap swimming.
- a six-lane 25-yard competition pool. This is a deep (6 to 10 ft) pool maintained at 80° F, designed for members of our swim teams and serious lap swimmers. It is also used for water polo, scuba, and synchronized swimming.
- a diving well--a warm (88° F) and deep (14 ft) pool designed for spring board diving and scuba diving. It features two 1-meter and two 3-meter springboards for competition. Available to the public is one 1-meter springboard, and our newest feature is the Aquaclimb.
- a 3x3 meter AquaClimb poolside climbing wall. The AquaClimb is a unique new water activity that blends fun and fitness and tugs at everyone's inner desire to climb. The AquaClimb angles over the pool to ensure all climbers fall back with a splash!
- an outdoor 50-meter pool was added in 1968. Open for summer
fun only, this heated, (82° F) Olympic size pool has four diving boards, and 5-, 7-, and 10-meter diving platforms. Young and old enjoy lap swimming and sunbathing on the lush lawn at our outdoor pool.
In addition, there is a five-lane 25-meter pool for general use, located in the White Building adjacent to the HUB, near the center of campus.
Exercise Facilities
Exercise facilities include the Fitness Loft overlooking the pools at McCoy Natatorium. The Fitness Loft, added in 1991, has nearly fifty of the most popular exercise equipment, including exercycles, stairclimbers, rowing machines, treadmills, and other state-of-the-art exercise machines.
The Fitness Loft is open to PSU students, PSU faculty and staff, full or part-time PSU employees, visiting guests of PSU, and spouses of the above with a valid pass. Guests may use the loft with a day pass when accompanying a valid pass user.
Parking
Parking on the PSU campus is controlled by the PSU Parking Office. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please contact them for specific parking-related questions.
Handicapped Accessibility
Handicapped accessibility is available to locker rooms and the pool deck through the Natatorium's side parking lot between the outdoor and indoor pools. Limited PSU handicapped parking space is also available in the same area.
