Employment Opportunities

The aquatic programs at Penn State University offer a variety of employment and educational opportunities for University and high school students and experienced adults as well. All of our employment positions include both work-study and wage payroll opportunities.  Preference will be given to students with a work study award.


Customer Service

Now hiring Customer Service Representatives for Summer 2015!

If you have an outgoing personality and like speaking with customers of diverse bakgrounds, please consider a job with Penn State Aquatics! At the start of each semester we look to find the most competent and energetic applicants to staff our main customer service desk and to monitor the Fitness Loft. Preference is given to work study recipients.

Customer Service positions start at $8.25/hour.  (Work study recipients earn the approved work study rate.)

Please be advised:  While we do make an effort to reach out to all applicants (including those we cannot hire), due to the sheer number of applications we receive we may only contact you if we would like to schedule an interview.  If you have not heard from us within the first two weeks of the semester, you should assume that we were not able to offer you a position.  We will, however, keep your application on file for the semester in the event a position becomes available that fits your class schedule.

Required Uniform: 

  • Khaki pants
  • Penn State Aquatics polo shirt.  One polo shirt will be issued upon hire. (New hires will have to contribute $20 toward your shirt cost at the time of hire.)  Additional or replacement shirts may be purchased for $40.00. 
  • Optional:  Penn State Aquatics sweatshirt (available for purchase).  No other sweatshirts are allowed.
  • Optional:  White long sleeve t-shirt underneath the required Penn State polo shirt.

Interviews:  Interviews will be scheduled during the first week of classes. If scheduled for an interview, please bring a copy of your class schedule and proof of your eligibility to work in the U.S. (see below). We also recommend that you bring a check (or cash) in the amount of $20 toward your uniform cost. Your uniform cost will be collected prior to being added to the schedule.  A canceled check or your banking information (routing number and account number) will be required for payroll deposit.


Proof of Eligibility to Work in the U.S.

If offered a position, you will need to provide proof of your eligibility to work in the U.S.  For a list of all documents that the government will accept as proof of your eligibility to work in the U.S., please see the federal I-9 form which you will be asked to complete upon hire.  Most often, applicants come prepared to show an ORIGINAL

  • U.S. Passport (Current); or

  • BOTH a Driver's License (or PSU ID) AND Social Security Card.

According to federal law, without these ORIGINAL documents, employers, are not allowed to hire you. Please come to school prepared with ORIGINAL documents (no copies, photos, scans, etc.). If you have a document from List A, that is easiest to process.  Otherwise, you will need an original document from BOTH List B and List C.

If offered a position, you will also be asked to complete the Automatic Payroll Deposit Form for payroll purposes. This will require a cancelled check or your banking information (routing number and account number). After hire, if you change your banking information, you will need to complete this form again.
