Everyone Should Learn To Swim

Penn State University is happy to offer swimming lessons to people of all ages. Swimming is an important life skill. A recent study shows that children who learn to swim at a young age reach many developmental milestones earlier than the norm. (See Science Daily, Nov. 16, 2012).

All of our swimming instructors are certified as American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors, meaning they are well-trained in teaching swimming and water safety programs following a structured program based upon developmental abilities and individual progress. Our swimming lessons focus not only on basic swimming skills but also water safety education designed to teach participants how to safely recreate in, on and around the water.

Discounted rates are available for program participants who are "members" of the Natatorium ~ those persons who hold a semester pass or annual individual membership. Students with a valid Penn State Fitness Pass are eligible for "member" rates. To qualify for a discounted rate for your child, you must hold a Family Membership, which is available for purchase at the Customer Service Desk at the McCoy Natatorium.
