Masters Swimming

Click here for our registration form.

Penn State Aquatics provides training for adult swimmers (ages 19 and up) through the Masters program. Far from being just those who have "mastered" swimming, the Masters program caters to a wide range of individual goals, including recreation and fitness, competitive swimming, and training for triathletes.

Unlike many Masters programs, the Penn State Masters Swimming program does not compete as a team. Instead, Masters participants can compete in adult age-group swim meets organized by United States Masters Swimming, triathalons, or other aquatics events.

Please note that the registration form and waiver of liability will need to be returned along with payment before you will be enrolled in the Master's program.

  • Undergraduate / Graduate Rate: $100.00 / semester
  • Non-Student Rate: $150.00 / semester

A minimum of twenty participants is required each semester to support coaching fees. If less than 20 persons register for Master's Swimming, the program will be canceled and registration monies will be refunded.

Note:

  • Basic swimming skills are required to join the Masters program. As a general rule, persons who cannot swim 500 yards non-stop (20 lengths) should work on developing their skills and endurance prior to joining Masters. While coaching is provided, basic swimming instruction is not included. Those needing to develop basic swimming skills are encouraged to join our Adult Group Lessons or sign up for Private Lessons through our aquatics office.
  • The Masters program provides supervised and highly varied one-hour workouts for a wide range of adult swimmers. Workouts may include all competitive strokes (crawl stroke, back crawl/backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly).   That said, the clear focus of the program is for fitness and competitive swimmers.
  • This is great place to meet and socialize with other adult swimmers in the Penn State community.
