Work Study & Wage Payroll positions

Intramural Sports hires 400+ students throughout the year as Officials and 12-15 "Work Study" Office Assistants (assist with front office, register teams & individuals, answer questions about RecSports, etc.)

We provide organized sport recreation to the students, faculty and staff of PSU. We are an office that strives to be as helpful and informative as we possibly can and have fun doing it ! Our opportunities are flexible to match your schedules. Many of our student officials work throughout the year - moving from one sport to the next, while some work just one sport season- it's up to you.

Daytime ~ OFFICE ASSISTANTS ... "Work Study" positions ONLY... available Monday thru Friday during office hours (8am-5pm). (WHAT IS "WORK STUDY" ?) A Federal Student Aid program that you must apply for and qualify. We work with your class schedule to provide coverage for the front office area for the semester. Normally 2-4 hour shifts, depending on your availability and our needs.

Evening ~ OFFICIATING ... Wage Payroll & Work Study positions ... available Monday thru Thursday evenings (approx. 5:30-10pm). Student officials work 1-3 nights a week (2-4 hrs per night), depending on your availability and our needs. We schedule permanent nights and use substitutes to adjust coverage. Each sport season lasts 4-8 weeks depending on the sport. Experience officiating the sport or years of playing the sport prefered.

The current starting PAY RATE is $7.50 per hour

*** NEW *** BACKGROUND CHECKS are required : there is now a 2-week period for your forms to be cleared BEFORE you can work. You MUST have your forms completed, turned in and sent for processing a minimum of 2-weeks PRIOR to the start of a season in order to be scheduled to work that sport.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO? Stop by the IM Office NO LATER THAN the designated "Hiring Deadline". These deadlines reflect the 2-week turn-around time to process your forms (required background check) to when you are cleared to work. We have a packet of other payroll forms that you will fill out.

WHAT ID'S TO BRING? A Photo-ID and either your Social Security Card or Official Birth Cert. We will photo copy these for your I-9 form. There are other ID options ... PSU's I-9 Instructions ... or ask at our office.

THEN WHAT? Office Assistants will attend a training meeting and work with the IM staff to become acquainted with the job. Sports Officials will attend an "Officials Training Meeting" specific to that sport just PRIOR to that season. Check with the office for the TIME & DATE of these meetings.
