 TRIBBETT A NATIONAL CHAMPION!

Walsh and some of the Chinese security contingent

On July 24th, coach Erica Walsh and the U.S. Women's National team arrived in Beijing, China. The team partook in some sight-seeing before traveling to Qinhuangdao, China where their first match will be played.

The U.S. Women will kick-off their Olympic run on August 6th against Norway.  In group play, the United States will face Norway (August 6th), Japan (August 9th) and New Zealand (August 12th).

GOOD LUCK, USA!

Last weekend, incoming freshman goalkeeper Krissy Tribbett (Centennial, CO) and the  Colorado Rush Nike took home the U-18 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. Tribbett also received the Golden Glove Award (given to the top goalkeeper at the tournament).

CONGRATS, KRISSY!

ADDITIONS TO OUR 2008 CLASS

CAMP SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

Some late additions to the class that will be joining the Penn State Women's Soccer team in a few weeks are Ali Schaefer (Las Vegas, NV), Emma Thomson (Nottinghamshire, England), and Nikki Watts (Berkshire, England). All three will be traveling from afar as Schaefer makes the cross country trip and Thompson and Watts traverse the Atlantic Ocean.

Schaefer, a four-year starter for Green Valley, scored 96 goals and 84 assists over her career. She was named the Green Valley team MVP and led her team to four-straight Zone Championships. Thomson most recently has been competing with the Doncaster Rovers Belles. In 2007, she was named Young Player of the Year following a stints with the U15 England squad in 2005-2006 and the U17 England squad in 2006-2007. Watts played for four years in the FA Women's Premier League with Bristol Academy WFC. She was also invited to England's U17 and U19 training camps.

We are currently in the midst of our fourth and final camp of the 2008 summer season and we would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you!" to all who chose to join us this June and July.

We hope that we will not have to wait a full year to see you again -- please keep your eye out for information regarding clinics that we will hold throughout the year. Additionally, we look forward to seeing you on the sidelines at Jeffrey Field this fall for one of our home matches.

Thanks again for choosing to spend time with us here in State College this summer ...
